then the phone rings
Yesterday marked the three-month-iversary of working at the Cow Box Computer Company. Tomorrow marks the day that The Captain gets the first half of his bonus for referring me to the call center where we both work, contracted to different companies. I don't know that either one of us will still be working there to collect the second half of the bonus.
Yesterday was also The Captain's first day of training for his new contract at the call center. While he's in training, we will literally not be able to see each other during the week. By the time I get home from work, he'll already be asleep, and he's out the door hours before my alarm goes off. Luckily, this is only for 4 more days.
I interviewed today at another company who provides onsite tech support for businesses of various size, from small local shops to city-wide services, to nationally released products. The HR manager promised me a call back this afternoon for the second round of interviews with the supervisors at two of the businesses they have contracts with.
The catch? The Captain has an interview there today, too. We could theoretically be competing for the same job. There is more than one opening, but that doesn't mean there aren't more applicants as well. I know that The Captain has more technical knowledge and experience than I do. But I have more experience with the types of equipment that are used in at least one of the businesses. We'll have to wait and see what happens after his interview in a few hours.
